A 2027 four‑star athlete from Cottondale, Tramond Collins, has decommitted from Florida, he told Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett on Sunday.
Collins initially pledged to the Gators in June, backing a decision tied to the program’s previous coaching staff under Billy Napier. Earlier this week, he told Gators Online that the commitment hadn’t been affected, but he ultimately decided to withdraw from the class.
“Nothing really changes for me on a serious level,” Collins explained to Gators Online. “I know a little about the new Florida head coach. I know he was at Tulane, and I’d already received an offer from Tulane. They were pursuing me before I committed and before the newer offers came in. I’m somewhat familiar with Coach Sumrall, but I wouldn’t say we’re close or anything like that at the moment. I saw that he didn’t retain Coach Billy Gonzales, which was tough to observe. I’m still weighing my options and haven’t made a real decision yet. I’m still in the process of deciding, but I remain committed for now. Some things are making me rethink things, but I haven’t reached a serious conclusion.”
At the time of his initial commitment, Collins held offers from Florida as well as Auburn, Kentucky, South Florida, and numerous other programs.
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound athlete is ranked No. 125 in the 2027 class per Rivals’ Industry Ranking, a composite score that averages the three major recruiting services. He is also listed as the nation’s No. 8 athlete and No. 11 in Florida.
During his junior season this fall, Collins caught 36 passes for 613 yards and five touchdowns, while adding 41 carries for 600 yards and nine more scores on the ground. On defense, he totaled 50 tackles, two pass breakups, and one interception.
