Samsung Unveils Privacy Display Innovations at MWC 2026
Samsung Display is making waves at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 with its groundbreaking Privacy Display technology, showcasing new ways to enhance user privacy on the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The highlight of their booth is the introduction of the "Flex Magic Pixel" technology, which enables selective activation of specific display sections for privacy mode.
Partial Privacy Display Options
Samsung is expanding the Privacy Display's capabilities with two innovative partial coverage methods:
- Bottom Half: This feature allows the bottom half of the display to remain active while the top half enters privacy mode. It's particularly useful for apps that require PIN or pattern-based unlocking, such as banking applications. Secure app optimization can further enhance this feature.
- Edge Panel: While the usefulness of this feature is still debatable, it demonstrates Samsung's commitment to exploring various partial coverage options.
The current implementation of the Privacy Display on the Galaxy S26 Ultra is an all-or-nothing affair. The partial coverage options provide a more nuanced approach, catering to specific use cases and potentially improving user experience.
Slidable Phone Concept
Samsung also showcased a slidable phone concept, previously unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in 2025. This concept features two devices, one active and the other non-active, with the ability to slide between states. It showcases Samsung's exploration of innovative form factors and user interfaces.
Other Display Concepts
In addition to the Privacy Display innovations, Samsung displayed other cutting-edge display concepts, such as LEAD 2.0, which promises thinner bezels and brighter panels while integrating Flex Magic Pixel technology. These advancements demonstrate Samsung's commitment to pushing the boundaries of display technology.
Qi2 Magnet Integration
Throughout the booth, Samsung showcased the practical applications of Qi2 magnets by mounting Galaxy S26 Ultras on magnetic mounts with stickers on the back. This display highlights the potential of Qi2 technology in enhancing device functionality and user convenience.
